Sharing my neuro-news…

Over the past few years, I've spent more and more of my professional life supporting neurodivergent people. It was feeling so comfortable to build these professional relationships, so I turned the mirror on myself. In February this year I finally received the green light: I am “newly” AuDHD, and proud of it.

We experience our neurotypes differently. I meet families where there is a range of neurodivergence, some of which is documented (I’m avoiding the word diagnosis intentionally!), and sometimes not. Being AuDHD doesn't make me an expert in anyone else's experience. And I don't approach neurodivergence as something to be fixed.

I am still learning what my sensory overwhelm, masking, executive functioning differences, hyperfocus and other idiosyncrasies mean and how to support myself. As a social worker and couples therapist, I'm interested in helping people understand each other rather than asking people to become someone they're not.

My emphasis on clear communication fits well here. So, if you've been looking for a therapist who understands neurodivergence both professionally and personally, I wanted you to know that. You're welcome here.
